This is my first weekend home in 3 weeks.

I spent my entire day watching Season 3 of Weeds.

After that exhausting activity, I decided to order pizza.

I stepped outside to pay the delivery guy, and shut the door behind me to keep the cats in the house. Then I went to go back in and.. the door was locked. LOCKED. Sweet curse words flew out of my mouth as I realized how it happened. See, you can't tell from the inside when the doors in this house are locked. So, I had a near miss early on and now never, ever lock the door handles. I just keep the deadbolts on, so in theory, when I unlock the deadbolt to actually open the door, there should be no problems.

The one thing missing in this calculation is my cat sitter, who faithfully locks all locks behind her as she leaves. This is a good thing, although it then leaves me in the precarious moment of standing outside my front door with no shoes, in shorts and a t-shirt, holding a pizza box. All possible scenarios run through my mind - the only spare key I have is in my desk at work, but, I have to actually GET to work (difficult without my car keys or money and barefoot certainly doesn't help). Once at work, I have to swipe an access card that is where? In my purse, in my house. Ok, so surely I can just call a coworker, except, oh yea! Cell phone is in the house, too!!

As the curse words flew, the pizza delivery man looked at me, with fear in his eyes that he would be dragged into the whole sad mess, and said "you don't have, like, another door?" At which point I realized that JUST before he showed up, I did open the back patio door so the kitties could watch outside the screen, which is their favorite activity. And just like that, I ran around to the back of the house and YES! Screen door slid sweetly open. And there ended my adventure for the day.

Note to self: Hide a damn key in the yard just like every other American!
